Class 1 2015-2016

Friday 17th June 2016

Foundation class have been looking at Handa's surprise, following a visit from Ken Dunn on our Africa themed day two weeks ago.

We have learned to tell the story using actions that the children came up with.  We have looked at the fruits from the story and we are going to write the story over the next few days.

Last week, the children enjoyed making flags and crowns to celebrate the Queen's 90th Birthday.  Then we had our lunch outside with the rest of the school!

This week we welcomed 14 new pets to our classroom! Mrs Carter has kindly set up an aquarium for us in Foundation. Our tank has 14 gupee fish in! They are all babies, some are bigger than others.

We have been excited to look at them and look forward to taking great care of them.

We have been learning about minibeasts. We have our own investigation area set up in the classroom. This week we went on a minibeast hunt with Mrs Britcliffe in our outdoor area. Here is a picture of some of the creatures we found.

We were all thrilled to welcome Sam back this week. He has been poorly, but he managed to spend some of Thursday, and Friday morning with us. Well done Sam!

This week Lily has taken Sunny home, and Joey has taken Worlaby mouse home. We can't wait to see what they get up to!

Have a nice weekend,

Thursday 24th March 2016

A short, but busy week this week.

This week we have been learning about the Easter Story, and we have been practising addition in Maths, as well as learning about coins.

We have been on an Spring Hunt to celebrate the change of season. We searched for daffodils, blossom, nests, insects and buds! We watched the birds in our outdoor area and found that they had built a nest up near the roof!

We practised our Easter Service in the Church on Tuesday, we found the Church to be a fascinating building and we had lots of questions to ask about it.

We have really enjoyed printing with numbers, creating decorated egg pictures, and practising our fine motor skills this week too!

We have really missed one member of our class over the last two weeks! We have sent Worlaby Mouse to look after Sam, and the whole school has made him a card. We hope you get better soon Sam, and we can't wait to see you back at school.

Have a Happy Easter everyone!

Mrs Shearwood
