Curriculum Religious Education

Welcome to the RE page...

The Governors and Staff of Worlaby Academy believe that Religious Education actively provokes challenging questions about the ultimate meaning and purpose of life, beliefs about God, the self and the nature of reality, issues of right and wrong and what it means to be human. It develops pupils’ knowledge and understanding of Christianity, other principal religions, other religious traditions and other world views that offer answers to questions such as these. It offers opportunity for personal reflection and spiritual development. It enhances pupils’ awareness and understanding of religions and beliefs, teachings, practices and forms of expression, as well as the influence of religion on individuals, families, communities and cultures.

The Governors and Staff believe that Religious Education promotes the values of truth, justice, public understanding and respect for all; appreciation, care and respect of the environment. It places specific emphasis on pupils valuing themselves, and others; the role of the family and the role of the community in religious belief and activity; the celebration of diversity in society through understanding similarities and differences. We believe that RE has an important part to play in promoting the spiritual, moral, social, cultural and intellectual development of our pupils, the promotion of citizenship and development of personal, social and health education and key skills.

At the bottom of this page you will find a downloadable PDF file which details what aspects of RE will be taught in school, and when.

Please feel free to browse the RE leaflet too!
